Lighting design is divided into outdoor lighting design and indoor lighting design, which is a more flexible and interesting design element, which has a strong catalytic effect on indoor theme creation, focus highlighting and atmosphere creation, and can also strengthen the layering of indoor space design.
Many people think that as long as the room is well-lit and bright enough, it will be fine.
But in the pursuit of high quality, unique, exquisite and elegant at the same time, the kind of "one fluorescent lamp or ceiling lamp to go all over the world" one room and one lamp scene will not work. This simple and crude lighting arrangement can only solve the basic lighting problem.
Professional lighting design, through a variety of lighting techniques and lamps and lanterns with each other, the brightness and darkness are moderate, which improves the taste of the room at the same time, and the sense of spatial hierarchy comes out at once. On top of that, targeted lighting can also make your experience much more comfortable and user-friendly.
To fully understand lighting design, you need to understand the types of lights and how they are lit.
(1) The type of light
There are three main types of lights: ambient light, rim light, and focus light.
a. Ambient light: the conventional light source with the largest lighting range, which cannot see the direct light source and direction clearly, and has soft lighting.
b. Contour light: It mainly emphasizes the outline of walls, ceilings, etc., to create a sense of hierarchy in the space, and can also add to the beauty of the interior.
c. Focus light: The relative lighting range is small, the light is concentrated, and it is mainly used to create a local atmosphere.
(2) The illumination method of the light
Lighting methods are mainly divided into: direct lighting, indirect lighting, diffuse lighting, effect lighting, accent lighting, and wall washing lighting.
The lighting design in the space can not only use one way to create the space environment, but also needs to combine different lighting techniques to meet the design needs, interpret the lighting, and set off the entire indoor atmosphere in an all-round and multi-dimensional way.
All in all, lighting design is a design that focuses on the functionality and visual effect of light, and is an expression method for designers to give color and emotion to space and objects.
